In late February, Kelly Halldorson passed through, driving cross-country, and we took Devyn and went the scenic way to Santa Fe, stopped to look at things, went to Meow Wolf... Very nice trip.
We had an early birthday celebration at Chuck E. Cheese for Devyn, who was turning 11, and Marty's family came, and Holly, and Devyn's friend Miranda. Soon after, Keith and I took Devyn to the city's newly opened Electric Playhouse, where every room was a living video game with things to throw balls at, to touch, to jump on. The food was great. I was planning to buy an annual big-family pass and bring everyone, often!
I was supposed to get a call to go and stay with Ivan when Ashlee had the baby, but instead I got a call from Marty early on March 16 saying "It's a girl! Her name's Wynona."
The Covid Pandemic had arrived, and people were especially afraid to expose older people, so they took Ivan to Ashlee's younger sister's house instead.
Photos of the things described above are on my blog and here's a link to the 2020 Christmas letter, too.
We thought 2021 would be better, and if it was, it's because there was no sudden shock or disappointment, just a slow burn.
I had mysterious medical mysteries, and was cat-scanned, pet-scanned, poked, prodded, suctioned, and people just kept saying "Good! It's not cancer! I was put on home oxygen in April 2021, thinking it would be temporary, but it was renewed in October for another twelve months.
For the very first time in my life, at the age of 68, I was summoned for jury duty. It won't happen until 2021, but the medical problems might keep me from being suitable to be away from home more then just a few hours. Jury duty isn't until 2022, so I'm writing into the future now, and will come back and update someday, probably.
